Timico’s new podcast kicks off with celebration of International Women’s Day

Our exciting new podcast, Timico Connected, has launched this week, and what better way to kick off the new series than by celebrating International Women’s Day!

The day, which takes place each year on 8th March, is a global event, recognising the amazing achievements of women. As part of the day, we wanted to celebrate the significant impact women are having on the technology sector, not only at Timico, but across the industry as well.

We sat down with three incredible women who are continuing to make waves and shape the technology industry today, to find out more about their careers in technology. Joining us was Victoria Marcer, our Mergers and Acquisitions Director, Rebecca HartleySenior Director of Human Resources for Northern Europe at Dematic, and Becky Davis, Founder and Director at Fantastic People

We have included some of our favourite insights from the podcast below, but make sure you check out the full episode by clicking the link we have shared below.

The podcast kicked off with the interviewees speaking about how they started in their careers and the great women who influenced them. Rebecca commented: “Someone that truly influenced me in my career was my previous Director, a lady called Sarah Dawson as she pushed me out of my comfort zone. Looking back, I can see the impact she had on me, even though I didn’t realise it at the time. She has influenced where I have got to today.”

As part of International Women’s Day, we also wanted to highlight the interviewees’ key achievements. When asked about their key accomplishments, Victoria said: “My proudest achievement was Timico’s acquisition of Arcus Cloud Services which I led from start to finish. That punctuates part of my career where a number of deals over the year have really stood out to me as turning points or key milestones. They may have had little consequence to the outside world but personally meant a lot to me.”

As successful women in their own fields, we took the opportunity to ask for their key career advice. Becky said: “The magic happens outside your comfort zone. Although, it can be a scary place to be, it is always worth it. If you work consistently as well, then the results will come. This has always been a strong belief of mine.

Rebecca agreed, adding: “Get comfortable being uncomfortable. If you’re comfortable, you’re not pushing yourself or taking the next step in your career. Being uncomfortable means that you are learning and developing. This doesn’t mean that you can’t be comfortable if that is your aspiration but I, myself, wanted to keep pushing myself and sometimes you must take that leap of faith. I always ask myself what is the worst thing that can happen. The worst someone can say is no.”
