Raising £5,000 for St John Ambulance
It may have been a different year to what we were expecting, but that hasn’t stopped our fantastic Timigos pulling together to raise a fantastic £5,061 for St John Ambulance.
At the start of 2020, Timico chose St John Ambulance as its charity of the year. The 140-year-old organisation is a volunteer-led health and first aid charity, with national presence, reach and scale. When the UK was placed in lockdown in March, the charity’s volunteers proved critical to the Covid-19 pandemic, providing 200,000 hours of patient facing care.
In order to support St John Ambulance’s life-saving efforts, we were determined to find new and innovative ways to raise money for the charity, while remote working. It may have been virtually, but we loved organising the fundraisers this year. We share our greatest highlights below.
The 2.6 Challenge
Our first challenge saw our Timigos walk, run, jump and even scooter for charity, as part of the 2.6 challenge. With fundraising events cancelled across the UK due to Covid-19, the challenge, inspired the London Marathon’s 26 miles which was also cancelled, encouraged people to undertake any challenge relating to 26.

Going Green for Halloween
In October, the team donned their finest scary costumes and went green for Halloween in support of St John Ambulance. Witches, vampires and even Shrek gave us all a chill and a laugh on our video calls, while our pets stole the show with their very own outfits.
To encourage donations, we had giveaways for the best dressed employee, best dressed pet and favourite pumpkin carving, with a special Olaf inspired creation winning the top prize.

Adding some Christmas Sparkle
Last week, we celebrated Christmas at Timico with a festive raffle, a bingo game and a silent auction to win a Nintendo Switch. The fundraisers were held virtually, with Christmas music and festive jumpers and decorations getting everyone in the holiday spirit.
More than 100 of our employees participated in the fundraisers, with many taking home prizes including John Lewis vouchers, champagne and wireless headsets. We would like to thank all our partners, suppliers and customers who supported the fundraisers by donating prizes.
A thank you from St John Ambulance
Craig Harman, Ambulance and Community Response Director at St John Ambulance, said: “When COVID struck SJA immediately reoriented its entire operation to support the pandemic fight. It was our biggest-ever peacetime response and that meant thinking differently about how we did things.
“With full responsibility for our day-to-day operations, my focus as National Tactical Commander was on preparing and briefing our volunteers clearly and regularly; making sure our people, our kit and our vehicles were in the right place at the right time. Our volunteers gave over 200,000 hours of their time supporting our operations and we are ready to support the second wave and our typical winter efforts. This is a massive team effort, and I am so proud of everyone involved.
“We are so grateful for all the support we continue to receive from the Timico team, whose work and whose donations have helped to making all this possible.”
Timico would also like to thank everyone who help organised the fundraisers, donated prizes, time and money and helped us raise such an impressive amount for St John Ambulance.
